排名榜首选权威性
资深专家认为,有一些排行榜的权威性是毋庸置疑的。在如今排行榜满天飞的日子里,参考排行榜当然要看那些权威机构制作的可信度较高的榜。各国的高等教育学府的排行榜一般由一些社会团体进行排名,尤其以媒体最为突出。比如《美国新闻与世界报道》和《金融时报》公布的排名,都被认为具有相当的客观性和权威性,在国内和国际上有很高的声誉。这是由于他们进行排名工作已经有很长的历史,工作的完善和调查的科学缜密程度保证了排行榜的准确程度,而不是凭少数人的偏好和印象。

专家认为,在国外,本科学历是基础性、普及型的学历层次,学校间的差距本身就小,特别是英国,加拿大和北欧的知名院校;因此,中国学生申请国外本科,就不应该把精力集中在学校的排名上,而是着重在成功的入学申请上。专家建议,学生在挑选学校的时候可以在排行榜的各个阶段的学校中,各选几所发送申请,既有最理想的院校,又有最稳妥的院校和保底型院校,最终的录取成功率才高,而不要盯着某一档次的学校不放,走这样的独木桥失败的风险很大。
