International students
The Victorian Government will trial discounted public transport travel for international students for three years from 2015.
The Victorian Government will provide all eligible international students with a 50 per cent discount on annual public transport tickets covering trains, trams and buses.
Victoria’s scheme will make available discounted tickets in all metropolitan travel zones, including Zone 1 only which covers inner Melbourne, as well as within regional centres (if education providers choose to enter into the scheme).
The scheme will be trialled from 2015 for three years in partnership with education providers to reduce transport costs for eligible students in eligible Melbourne metropolitan and country educational institutions.
An overseas student will now save up to $1105 per year travelling on the public transport network.
