隆德大学的国际合作非常广泛，是欧洲研究型大学联盟，诸如牛津、剑桥等大学参与的League of European Research Universities的成员，也是著名国际大学联盟(Universitas 21 )中唯一的斯堪的纳维亚大学，隆德大学也是哥本哈根、马尔默和隆德厄尔松地区的12所大学组成的大学联盟-厄尔松大(Öresund University) 的成员。2007年隆德大学被誉为Erasmus 成功先例，是国际交流活动最为活跃的欧洲大学。每年来隆德学习的国际学生有3000 名左右，而且隆德大学的科研环境也非常国际化，不断地吸引世界各地的教授和学者来隆德参加科研合作。
隆德大学1997-2002担任‘欧盟-中国高等教育合作项目’主席，积累了与中国各高教科研合作的宝贵经验并在欧盟以及中国合作对象和范围内树立了很高的威信。近年来隆德大学中国的高等教育和科研组织机构建立了广泛的合作 - 2007年9月隆德大学组织了'北欧中国合作论坛'，北欧科教组织和中科院的专家学者们就生命科学，信息科学，纳米科学，环境资源科学双方的合作进行了深入的讨论，旨在进一步促进、并实化与北欧各国的科技合作。
隆德大学在许多方面具有特色，如民主的视点，批判的思维，对全球环境的关注，以及对种族多样性和社会多样性的关注等等。另外，改革思想与人文主义关照相结合以及幽默感也是隆德大学特有的价值观。
