INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS FROM NON-EU COUNTRIES (WITHOUT A GERMAN UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE QUALIFICATION)
本科——非欧洲国家学生的申请(不持有德国大学入学证书)
1.Admission requirements
You should note the following when you make your application for a Bachelor/State Examination/Diploma course at Münster University:
(1)Applicants need a university entrance qualification.
Anyone who wants to study in Germany must have a university entrance qualification. At Münster University the Registrar`s Office checks to see whether the university entrance qualification included with an application is sufficient.
In the case of an international applicants, your university entrance qualification obtained in your home country must be equivalent to a German university entrance qualification.
(2)Anyone wanting to embark on a German-taught undergraduate degree programme at Münster University must have an adequate knowledge of German (for most programmes DSH-2 or equivalent). Anyone who does not have an adequate knowledge of German can acquire it in our fee-based German language courses. We offer these DSH-2 preparatory courses from level B2 onwards. The fee currently amounts to 500€. Additionally, the regular semester social contribution of approx. 270€ has to be paid.
(3)Please note that for some undergraduate programmes, special entrance tests have to be passed. This currently applies to degree programmes at our Academy of Music and our Department of Sports.

2.Application Process for NON-EU applicants without a German Abitur
General advice
(1)You will need to apply for all undergraduade degree programmes with admission restrictions at Münster University. Applications can only be made via the online applications portal.
(2)Applications are only possible during our application periods.
(3)For undergraduate programmes without admission restrictions, NON-EU applicants may enrol via ourOnline portal. This is only possibile during certain periods.
(4)Applications to join a higher semester are also only possible during certain periods. Before applying, please read about recognition for credits received and examinations taken abroad. Please note that places in higher semesters of degree programmes with restricted access can only be awarded if there is free capacity.
Information on the application process for NON-EU applicants
(1)Please fill in our Online application form carefully and submit it online. You can apply for a maximum of three undergraduate programmes. Please select them in the application form in order of your preference.
(2)After you have submitted the online application, you will receive an email with a data sheet containing an overview of your application(s). Please read the information given in the email and on the data sheet carefully, print the data sheet out and sign it. You must then send the signed data sheet together with all required documents untill the end of the appplication deadline to the University of Münster. A list of necessary documents is stated on the data sheet/ the email. Usually, the following documents are required:
a.Evidence of an adequate knowledge of German (see above)
b.Evidence of university entrance qualification in the form of an appropriate school-leaving certificate from a foreign school; if necessary, a university entrance examination, record of studies or relevant examination from a Studienkolleg
c.Signed printout of your online application
All certificates must be provided in the form of officially certified copies. Official certification can be provided by any public authority that has an official seal, e.g. municipal authorities, embassies, consulates or notaries. In the case of foreign-language documents, an official translation of these will also be required – in German or English.
German language certificates may be submitted later on (untill July 15th for winter semester applications / January 15th for summer semester applications) in case all other application documents have been submitted before the end of the respective deadline.

3.Notification and Enrolement
The admission process usually takes two (language course applications) to eight (undergraduate degree programme applications) weeks after the end of the respective deadine. Notifications of acceptance will then be uploaded and also sent to you by post. The admission letter contains all the information necessary for enrolment. If your application has been successful you must enrol, either in person or by post, at the Registrars Office.
Tuition fees are not levied at the University of Münster. However, a semester charge (the "Semesterbeitrag") of currently approx. 270 euros has to be paid by all students every semester.

1.Admission requirements for Master degree programmes
(1)Applicants need a German university entrance qualification or a foreign school-leaving certificate corresponding to the German Abitur (university entrance qualification).
Anyone who wants to study in Germany must have a university entrance qualification. At Münster University the Students Secretariat checks to see whether the university entrance qualification included with an application is sufficient.In the case of foreign applicants, your university entrance qualification obtained in your home country must be equivalent to a German university entrance qualification. Whether this is so can be ascertained by using the databases maintained by the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst, DAAD). In case the country in which you obtained your school-leaving certificate is not listed, please consult the database provided by the Education Ministers Conference (only in German!).
(2)A Bachelor degree in the same or a similar field.
(3)You will need to have an adequate knowledge of German to take part in the courses which are held for the most part in German. Anyone who does not have an adequate knowledge of German can attend language courses. Before you make an application please enquire about which foreign language competence is required for the course you wish to take. Currently you do not need to provide evidence of German language competence for the following Master’s degrees which are taken in English:
Geoinformatics
Geospatial Technologies
Information Systems
Physics
National and Transnational Studies
British/American and Postcolonial Studies
Social Anthropology
(4)Degree programme specific admission requirements: Please check whether the Master degree programme you want to apply for has additional specific admission requirements.
(5)There are additional application requirements for foreign applicants from the following countries:
People’s Republic of China
Vietnam
Mongolia
Before you make your application, please check to see whether you meet these requirements.

2.Application Process for Master degree programmes
(1)Certain times and deadlines apply for applications to the University of Münster. Please note that concerning our deadlines, the university entrance stamp is decisive.
(2)You can only apply for all Master’s degree programmes via the Online applications portal for Master applications. During the application period you can get access to the application portal via the following website ("B. Fachwissenschaftlicher Master"). This applies to subjects both with and without restricted access. Please create an account first, and then fill in the application form and upload all required documents as scanned PDFs.
(3)You can apply for maximal 3 Master degree programmes via your account. Whithin your account, please fill in one application form for each Master degree programme. You should not create 3 individual accounts!
(4)At the end you should print out your online application twice. With the printout you will also get a checklist showing all the documents you must submit (and upload) as well as an applicant’s number. This number is important if you have any queries regarding the applications procedure. It is useful to have an additional copy of the printout of your online application for when you apply for your visa. If you apply for more than one Master programme, please print out the application form for each Master application.
(5)All necessary documents, together with the duly signed printout of your online application, must be sent to the University of Münster before the end of the relevant application period. The following documents are required:
Foreign school-leaving certificate
Bachelor’s certificate
CV containing no gaps
Evidence of adequate knowledge of German
Please note that applications for a Master’s degree usually also require additional documents to be submitted, e.g.
Bachelor’s certificate with a minimum grade
Evidence of additional foreign language(s) (e.g. English, French etc.)
Letter of motivation
Additional qualifications (work placements etc.)
Please refer to the information from the relevant university department to see whether you need to submit any additional documents with your online application.
(6)All documents are required in the form of officially certified copies. N.B.: Official certification can be provided by any public authority that has an official seal, e.g. municipal authorities, embassies, consulates or notaries. (7)If you apply for more than one Master degree programme, please prepare the documents for each Master programme you want to apply for.

3.Selection Process and Notification
A selection committee in the university department of the Master programme you apply for decides on which applicants to select. The admission process might take until August-September. Admission/rejection letters will be sent from the beginning of August onwards. During the selection process you can check your application status.
If your application has been successful, you must enrol, either in person or by post, at the Registrar's Office. The notification of acceptance, which will be sent to you by post, contains all the information necessary for enrolment.
After your enrolment Münster University levies a social contribution fee of currently 270€ each semester.

In many occupations a doctoral degree is a requirement for being hired. Depending on the subject, obtaining a doctoral degree takes between two and five years. Before starting, however, you have to apply for your doctoral studies and to enrol. There are also special deadlines and requirements to be observed.
As far as doctoral courses are concerned, a distinction is made between two groups of applicants: Individual doctorate;Structured doctoral work.

Anyone wishing to write a dissertation at the University of Münster must first of all apply in writing to the relevant university department to have the dissertation supervised. Only professors (university teachers) are allowed to supervise. You can send your application to the Dean or to the desired professor direct.

For international graduates
If you have already completed a course of study in your home country, you will as a rule, also be able to study in Germany. However, not every type of degree gained abroad entitles the holder to start on a higher course of study. It is possible that further study qualifications will have to be gained.
The relevant Doctoral Degrees Board decides on admission to a doctoral degree course. In addition to having a first degree certificate, foreign students will also have to clarify whether the doctoral dissertation is to be written in German or in another language. The secretariat of the relevant faculty and the University’s Graduate Centre can both help on this issue.

Checklist for applicants
Applications for your doctoral dissertation to be supervised in a university department can be made by e-mail or by post. The application should include:
(1)A German university entrance qualification or a foreign school-leaving certificate which corresponds to the German Abitur (university entrance qualification)
(2)A CV containing no gaps
(3)A short description of your research topic
(4)Copies of the university examination taken
(5)Evidence of linguistic competence. If the doctoral dissertation is to be written in German, the Registrar`s Office will check to see whether the candidate has an adequate knowledge of German. If the dissertation is to be written in another language, the supervising professor must confirm that the candidate has adequate linguistic competence in this language.
(6)Applicants need an acceptance on the part of the supervisor or, if necessary, of the Dean. If the department shows an interest, they will get in touch with you. You will then need from the supervising professor a written acceptance to supervise you. This written acceptance includes:
A declared willingness to supervise the doctoral dissertation
A declaration on the part of the professor – if you have no DSH 2 language competence certificate or some comparable certificate – that he/she accepts the existing level of linguistic competence or that the doctoral dissertation is to be written in English. However, you also have an opportunity to take part in a DSH language course or take a DSH language examination.
(7)Once the department and the supervisor have expressed their acceptance, matriculation at Münster University via the online enrolment portal is the next step. Online enrolment for a doctoral course is only possible within certain times.

Information on application deadlines
(8)During the applications period a signed printout of the online enrolment must be sent to the University of Münster, together with all necessary documents. The documents to be submitted comprise:
A written acceptance note that you will be supervised and, if necessary, evidence of having taken a DSH-2 language examination (or a comparable certificate)
Your Abitur certificate or a foreign school-leaving certificate which corresponds to the German Abitur (university entrance qualification)
Bachelor’s and Master’s degree
(9)All documents must be provided in the form of officially certified copies.

2.STRUCTURED DOCTORAL DISSERTATIONS / GRADUATE SCHOOLS AT MÜNSTER UNIVERSITY
Graduate Schools offer junior academics the opportunity to complete a doctoral degree within three years as part of a structured programme. Applications should be sent to the relevant Graduate School direct, where you can get information on the formalities and the documents needed.
For international graduates
If you have already completed a course of study in your home country you will, as a rule, also be able to write a doctoral dissertation in Germany. However, not every type of degree gained abroad entitles the holder to start on a higher course of study.
Before you apply to write a doctoral dissertation at Münster University you must have yourself graded in the relevant course. For this purpose all credits received and examinations taken must be recognized. The Graduate Schools and the University’s International Office can provide further information on this.
