　　INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS

　　This page contains information for first-year students and for transfer  students. At the bottom of the page, you'll find external sources available to  all international students.

　　First-year students

　　We offer two scholarships for incoming international freshman (first year)  students in the summer and fall semesters.

　　We offer a $3,000 Global Scholarship awarded to students who are accepted,  who have proof of their English language proficiency, and who are charged the  non-resident tuition rate.

　　We also offer a scholarship based on academic merit.

　　The converted GPA, and any ACT or SAT test scores provided, will determine  the amount of scholarship awarded. These scholarships are renewable for total of  eight consecutive semesters during which students must attend full-time (12 or  more credit hours). Students who are fully funded with a scholarship from their  country are ineligible for UA scholarships.

　　The new, optional, Akron Guarantee Scholarship not only guarantees the  yearly renewal of your scholarship so long as you are in good academic standing,  but it also offers even greater financial support through automatic yearly  upgrades.

　　The Guarantee Scholarship guarantees the annual renewal of your scholarship  if you maintain good academic standing (a 2.0 GPA), AND it includes automatic  scholarship upgrades as you earn 30, 60 and 90 credits, totaling up to $3,500.  Learn more about this option available only to new freshmen entering in the fall  of 2017.

　　All international students who have applied to start in the summer or fall  semester, as first year (freshman) status, and have provided proof of their  English Language Proficiency, are automatically considered for these  scholarships.

　　Students who have attended another institution and have attempted, and  completed, less than 24 credit hours (2 full-time semesters) will be changed to  first year status and considered for these scholarships as well.

　　International transfer students

　　The "Partners in Excellence –Transfer Scholarship" ranges from $2,000 to  $2,500 divided evenly over two semesters. Mid-year transfer students would  receive only the spring half of the award, if funds are available.  International students transferring from another institution with more than 24  credit hours of undergraduate credit earned after graduating high school must  apply and submit final transcripts by the deadlines listed below to be  considered for the scholarship. It is renewable for a maximum of six consecutive  semesters, during which students must attend full-time (12 or more credit  hours).

　　PARTNERS IN EXCELLENCE TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS:

　　Renewal criteria:

　　All international students who have applied as transfer status, and meet  the requirements, are automatically considered for these scholarships.

　　Students who have attended another institution and have attempted, and  completed, less than 24 credit hours (2 full-time semesters) will be changed to  first year status and considered for freshman scholarships.

　　PHI THETA KAPPA SCHOLARSHIPS

　　This is a $1,000 scholarship available to qualifying transfer students who  are active members of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. To apply, students should  submit proof of active membership (e.g. copy of their membership card or  certificate) to the Office of Student Financial Aid. Student are only eligible  if they were inducted after high school graduation.
