Most people would like to be popular with others, but not everyone can achieve this goal. What is the secret to popularity? In fact, it is very simple. The first step is to improve our appearance. We should always make sure that we stay in good shape and dress well. When we are healthy and well-groomed, we will not only look better but also feel better. Facing this audience on the stage, I have the exciting feeling of participating in the march of history, for what we are facing today is more than a mere competition or contest. It is an assembly of some of China’s most talented and motivated people, representatives of a younger generation that are preparing themselves for the coming of a new century.
I’m grateful that I’ve been given this opportunity, at such a historic moment, to stand here as a spokesman of my generation and to take a serious look back at the past 15 years, a crucial period for every one of us and for this nation as well.
Though it is only within my power to tell about my personal experience, and only a tiny fragment of it at that, it still represents, I believe, the root of a spirit which has been essential to me and to all the people bred by the past 15 years.
In my elementary years, there was a little girl in the class who worked very hard but somehow could never do satisfactorily in her lessons.
The teacher asked me to help her, and it was obvious that she expected a lot from me. but as a young boy, restless, thoughtless, I always tried to evade her so as to get more time to enjoy myself.

活动背景： 在笃行文化活动月之际，为了丰富文化月的内容和广大同学的课余生活，笃行工作站决定举办笃行之星英语演讲比赛 活动活动，为广大英语爱好者提供一个互相交流的平台。
笃行之星英语演讲比赛
活动背景：
在笃行文化活动月之际，为了丰富文化月的内容和广大同学的课余生活，笃行工作站决定举办笃行之星英语演讲比赛
活动目的：
1〉提高同学学习英语的积极性，特别是提高对英语口语训练的积极性。
〈2〉丰富大学生的课余生活。
〈3〉为大学生提供一个学习和交流英语学习的平台，共同进步。
〈4〉加深对英语口语的重要性的认识。
〈5〉通过举办活动，为广大英语爱好者提供一个互相交流和学习的机会。
主办单位：
笃行学术部
协办单位：
笃行各团总支
参赛对象：
笃行全体学生
活动前期：
1、 制作海报5张，比赛前两周张贴于凌云、笃行、勤业、食堂门口(2张)
2、 比赛前一周再一次张贴海报(笃行工作站宣传栏)，对此次大赛进行宣传。若有企业赞助，为企业专门策划宣传海报。
3、 比赛前一周在校内悬挂宣传横幅(笃行工作站门口，通往食堂的过道)，与比赛当天转置比赛现场。
4、 比赛前一周在笃行门口及食堂门口发放报名表
5、 各团支书鼓励推荐有此方面特长的人参加
6、 进行初赛时，并配以同期的海报和学校电台宣传
活动开展：
比赛分为初赛和决赛两阶段：
初赛：
1、每位选手有1分钟的自我介绍。40%
2、每十个选手一组，在特定的场景下，自由发挥想象，可以找搭档表演也可个人表演，看谁能吸引评委的注意。准备时间2分钟，表演3分钟。60%
初赛决出十名选手参加决赛
决赛：
1.选手2分钟的自我介绍30%
2、.故事接龙：选手分两组进行
由评委给出一个开头，选手根据编号讲故事接下去，每人可以根据自己的需要进行接龙，可适当穿插表演，每人时间上限为2分钟，下限一分钟。35%
评分细则：
初赛评委：2名英语老师、2名海外学生(精通外语)
决赛评委：2名中国英语老师、2名外教
1、现场打分
2、根据选手的应变能力、表现力、台风、语音语调来给分(总分100)
奖项设立：
一等奖一名，二等奖2名，三等奖3名
单项奖：最佳才艺奖，最佳人气奖，最佳机智奖、最佳风采奖
