大家好！
今天我能荣幸地站在演讲台上发表讲话，感到非常的自豪，当然，这也少不了同学们的支持与老师的关心和鼓励！
班长是一个许多同学们都向往的职位，需要一个有能力、有爱心的人来担当，我不敢说我是最合适的，但我敢说我将会是最努力的！工作锻炼了我，生活造就了我。戴尔卡耐基说过“不要怕推销自己，只要你认为自己有才华，你就应该认为自己有才华，你就应该认为自己有资格提任这个职务”。所以我相信我有能力担任这一职务。
首先，我有信心当好班长，我的学习成绩不算差，在集体中有一定威信和影响力。其次，我有管理班级的能力，敢于负责，如果我能够当上班长，那么我一定会任劳任怨，严于律己，管理好班级，提高同学们的学习成绩，让我们的班级成为全年级的佼佼者。而且，我拥有一个不会轻易发脾气的好性格，绝对可以满足班长平易近人的要求。我热情开朗、热爱集体、团结同学、拥有爱心。
假如我竞选上了班长，我会严格要求自己，为同学树立榜样，相信在我们的共同努力下，充分发挥每个人的聪明才智，使我们的整个班级形成一个团结向上、积极进取的集体。
假如我竞选上了班长，我会把班级活动作为展示特长、爱好的场所，把学习当作一种乐趣，在集体里互帮互助。
假如我竞选上了班长，我将用旺盛的精力、清醒的头脑来做好这项工作。
假如我竞选上了班长，我会真正做同学的好朋友，老师的好助手。
马行千里知其是否为良驹，人经百事知其是否为栋梁。我会用自己的实际行动证明自己的能力。既然是花，我就要开放；既然是树，我就要长成栋梁；既然是石头，我就要去铺出大路；既然是班干部，我就要成为一名出色的领航员！流星的光辉来自天体的摩擦，珍珠的璀璨来自贝壳的眼泪，而一个班级的优秀来自班干部的领导和全体同学的共同努力。
我想我们都应该当个实干家，不需要那些美丽的词汇来修饰。假如我落选了，说明我还有许多缺点，我将继续自我完善。
班长就是架在老师与同学之间的一座桥梁，能向老师提出同学们的合理建议，向同学们传达老师的苦衷，我一定会主动为同学服务，为老师分忧。给我一次锻炼的机会，我会经得住考验的，相信在我们的共同努力下，充分发挥每个人的聪明才智，我们的班务工作一定能十分出色，我们的班级一定能更上一层楼！

Knowing the Consequences of Choice
Over the past Spring Festival, I got involved in a family dispute. Right before I got home, four satellite channels of CCTV were added to the 14 channels we had already had. In prime time at night, they all had interesting shows. Therefore, the five of us-my parents, my sisters and I-had to argue over what to watch. Finally, we agreed that we should watch the "most interesting" programme... If we
could agree what that was.
However, all of us there remember that for a long time after we had TV, there were only one or two channels available. The increase in options reveals an important change in our life: the abundance of choice.
Fifteen years ago we all dressed in one style and in one colour. Today, we select from a wide variety of designs and shades.
Fifteen years ago, we read few newspapers. Today, we read English newspapers like the China Daily and the 21st Century, as well as various Chinese newspapers.
Fifteen years ago, English majors took only courses in language and literature. Today, we also study Western culture, journalism, business communications, international relations, and computer science.
The emergence of choices marks the beginning of a new era in China's history; an era of diversity, of material and cultural richness, and an era of the rebirth of the Chinese nation.

It is human nature that all of us should be fond of beauty. Everybody was born with a heart for beauty.
Today in China,with the rising of our living standard, people's requirement of beauty has been heIghtened accordingly. Some people spare no money or energy on beautiful clothes, fashionable hair styles,the decoration of their houses and even the improvement of their looks. But it seems to me,all
these are more or less confined to the beauty in appearance,or rather,the outward beauty.
In my opinion,we shouldn't only pay attention to beautiful appearance and neglect the beautification of the mind and what we are after should be the perfect unity of the outward beauty and the inner beauty. As we all know,so far as objects and animals are concerned,there is only beautiful appearance to be mentioned, but to us humanbeings, although the outward beauty really matters, the inner beauty is much more important. This was confirmed by a famous Russian writer in words much like this: "A person is
not lovely for being beautiful but beautiful for being lovely. "

since the quality of honesty applies to all behaviors, one cannot refuse to consider factual information, for example, in an unbiased manner and still claim that one's knowledge, belief or position is an attempt to be truthful. such a belief is clearly a product of one's desires and simply has nothing to do with the human ability to know. basing one's positions on what one wants — rather than unbiased evidence gathering — is dishonest even when good intentions can be cited — after all even hitler could cite good intentions and intended glory for a select group of people. clearly then, an unbiased approach to the truth is a requirement of honesty.
because intentions are closely related to fairness and certainly affect the degree of honesty/dishonesty, there is a wide spread confusion about honesty--and a general belief that being dishonest means that one always correctly understands if their behavior is either honest or dishonest. self-perception of our morality is non-static and volatile. it's often at the moment we refuse to consider other perspectives that there is a clear indication we are not pursuing the truth, rather than simply and exclusively at the moment we can muster up evidence that we are right. socrates had much to say about truth, honesty and morality, and explained that if people really understood that their behavior was wrong — then they simply wouldn't do it — by definition. unfortunat...
